Introducing…. Me! New Co-Manager at the Farmers’ Market.

A long time coming, hello everyone, my name is Martha Boland and I am the newest addition to the Creston Valley Food Action Coalition and Co-Manager with Tamara Movold of the Farmers’ Market. Jen Comer has officially gone on maternity leave and is expecting her baby any day now.

I am very excited to be working with CVFAC and will be trying to fill big shoes as Jen looks after little ones. As Len Parkin has said, it will take two of us to do the work Jen did.

A little about myself, I am a student at Selkirk College finishing a program in Peace and Conflict Resolution and working on a Joint Major in First Nations and Women’s Studies with a Concentration in Anthropology. Though my education may seem at odds with my work, it is through International Studies that the issues of Food Security and Sovereignty have become a passion of mine.

An innovative gardener and avid foodie, I have an appetite for Alternative Food Systems and particularly Local Food Systems. I am lucky enough to live on farmland in Canyon, purchased by family in 1968, and eager to start my future in agriculture in this beautiful valley.

We have many projects on the go and will be posting about them shortly. I look forward to meeting all of you in the next few months and please feel welcome to drop by our office at the Chamber of Commerce or join us at the market.

Cheers!
